Keeping Spiders Away from Your Home's Exterior

Are spiders weaving a web of frustration around the exterior of your home? Soft Washing your home will remove the webs and critters temporarily, but to prevent them from returning, you need to take proactive measures. Here's a guide to stop spiders from overtaking the exterior of your home.

  1. Spiders thrive in cluttered and unkempt areas. Regularly clean up debris such as leaves, grass clippings, and woodpiles from around your home's exterior. Pay particular attention to areas where clutter accumulates, such as along fences, under decks, and in storage sheds, etc

  2. Spiders can enter your home through tiny cracks and gaps in the foundation, walls, windows, and doors. Inspect the exterior of your home for any potential entry points and seal them using caulk or weather stripping. Focus on areas where utilities enter the house, as these are common entry points for spiders.

  3. Certain scents are known to repel spiders. Consider planting spider-repelling plants such as lavender, mint, or eucalyptus around the perimeter of your home.

  4. Spiders are attracted to outdoor lights at night, as they attract insects which spiders feed on. Reduce the attractiveness of your outdoor lights to insects by using yellow or sodium vapor bulbs, which are less attractive to bugs. Position lights away from doors and windows to minimize the likelihood of spiders entering your home.

  5. Enlist the help of a professional pest control company to apply treatments specifically targeting spiders and other pests. These treatments create a barrier around your home, deterring spiders from approaching or entering. Regular treatments can significantly reduce spider populations and prevent infestations.

  6. Stay proactive by conducting routine inspections of your home's exterior. Look for signs of spider activity such as webs, egg sacs, and droppings. Address any issues promptly to prevent spiders from establishing themselves around your home.

By implementing these strategies, you can effectively prevent spiders from overtaking the exterior of your home and enjoy a spider-free outdoor environment. Remember to stay consistent and vigilant in your efforts to keep these arachnids at bay. Best of Luck
